Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – Jubilee Street
*BUMPING THIS THREAD W/NEW VIDEO*
Jubilee Street – Directed by John Hillcoat – Featuring Ray Winstone
My comment at YouTube:
God almighty. Ray Winstone is superb here. The video is novelesque. Sexy. Tender. Heartbreaking spin on the power dynamics of the sex trade. I love that the characters are speaking the lyrics. Brilliant. Fwiw, I see glimmers of Jerry the Pimp (Rhinoceros Hunting in Budapest) in Nick’s performance. Stunning. Kudos all around.
Jubilee Street (from Push The Sky Away)
Wonderful. Immense. Devastating. Vocal style reminds me of Lou Reed. This song shares a similar aesthetic to David Bowie’s new release “Where are we Now?” Melancholy, poetic reflections, and the sad reminiscences of places and people long past. Bravo.

Push the Sky Away

After listening to the album in its a few times by now, I can’t sum things up any better than this article does… http://www.au.timeout.com/sydney/music/features/11836/nick-cave-the-bad-seeds-push-the-sky-away
Official video now on You Tube (providing you are old enough to watch it!!!)
Very good video and the song has really grown on me since first hearing it the other week. The video could almost be the trailer for Ray Winstone to play Bunny Munro!
Yep, you have sign in to prove your age. WOW!

Thank you for the link drops! It’s really helpful. :*
I was raised to say nothing at all, if not something nice. So, with that in mind… Mick Harvey is a Herculean tower of talent.
Lots of mixed reviews so far, Mark. I didn’t like the first one so much. This one, yeah. We’ll see how the album sounds. No argument about Mick Harvey.
I really like this, beautiful strings in the background.
well as a huge nick cave fan i like the number and i cant wait for the new album to be released, i will certainly buy it as i always has when there has come something new. As an artist i will always recognise him up with all the greats of music lyricists like cash, tom waits, leonard cohen, dylan, young and lou reed, you will always get some great songs and some great music from him. But for me the bad seeds hasnt really reached the heights of 80/90′ies where my favourites are from and some of the 00′s albums has disapointed me a bit because i found them to quiet, though there has been great numers like “babe i’m on fire” and sure there has been lots of others, so i’ll just wait and see and hope he’ll also kick our asses with some more agressive toons
