Sorry – ArialCourier is also me. I sometimes forget to take off my writing hat and put on my music hat. ;-)

    • 2010.04.04 at 10:26 pm | #6

Thanks, SoFar. I appreciate you dropping these links. :) Did you have a nice Easter? I actually had a great weekend. The weather was superb. We were all outside working on our tans. Saturday night, I had dinner with my personal ‘Boys Next Door’ (Kevin and Chad). It got fairly cool after dark so we built a fire and talked for hours. People wandered in and out. We’ve got an interesting group of neighbors this year – it’s going to be a wild and crazy summer. YAY!

        >Did you have a nice Easter?

Yes – Easter fell on my father’s birthday this year, and since he’s a Nick fan too, the rest of the family had to put up with us watching the God is in the House DVD and pretending we were at the show (the tv is certainly big enough). It was bloody freezing down here last night, too – the temperature dropped from the mid-twenties (celsius) to about fifteen degrees. I’m looking forward to a wild winter, next to my fake fireplace. :-) (And a good book in hand …)

I dont know if you know or/and have seen the film “We`re living on dog food”, i found an excerpt with BND and its interesting that in the comment under the “New Wave I – video” is said, that at 5.20 Alannah Hill is talking (but its Beau? I dunno, maybe Deb knows that ;D) and in the exerpt of “We´re living on dog food” she talks very bad about BND *giggles*

Anna, thank you for the comment. I will ask Deb. My area is Berlin — I make no claims to any sort of knowledge or expertise outside of it. The Punk/New Age scene in Melbs 70s-80s is Deb’s realm. :) Pending, I guess. *giggles back at you * ;D

        hi anna,
it is definately beau talking. my other half remembers beau – i don’t tho’. living on dog food is different to this film. alannah hill features in “dog food” which was made in the 80′s. this film – don’t quote me – was made in the 70′s. hope this has cleared up any confusion. feel free to contact me further to discuss if you like. :)
        -deb

*on edit: just noticed it says 1980 on the vid.

Ah thank you for explaining, than at youtube somebody took beau for alannah right? “We´re living on dog food” shows pictures from the melbourne scene in the late seventies/early eighties and alannah hill is talking about BND in 2009 in that film, commenting the time. That film was made last year but the material is very old, rowland is also in it talking about the past. So its simple…its not alannah, its beau. Maybe someone should say that to the owner of “music around us” at youtube :)

‘I Put a Spell on You’ Sees Poor Sales Due to ‘Musical Snobbery’
Spinner, Mar 11th 2010 by Julian Marszalek
      GO TO ARTICLE

Some kind of blame game going on because the Haiti single isn’t flying off the shelves. In my daily meanderings, I’ve noticed quite a few people commenting that they’d rather donate directly to the Haiti cause than buy the single – due to issues with various members of the lineup. Don’t know what’s up with it.

    Morgan :
When I first saw Henry Lee (the promo) I was stunned. Perfection. Someone commented on their chemistry at YouTube, something like, ‘these two are gods and should have children together’.

I’ve got an interview with Polly where she comments on how they look very similar physically, and I love this about them – I love that she used to sort of dress like him with the shirts and suit jackets, and use his hair wax, and he wore her pink nail polish. Oh, here comes another bad bout of nostalgia! Maybe I’ll just pretend that they’re still together and that Blixa is still in the band … What, what? He isn’t? La la la, not listening, can’t hear you. :-D

    • Ellen
      2010.03.01 at 7:11 am | #31

Of course they’re still together and Blixa hasn’t at all left the band!

Btw I love the chemistry between them in the promo video, it’s so much emotions that you could touch it! It always make me shiver.

        > It always make me shiver.

        Oh yeah.

Exactly one and a half year ago I was searching on the internet for a music video that was NOT from NC. Although, somehow, I was convinced that it was. At this point, the only thing I knew about this NC person was that he was the singer (who sang a song) an old friend of mine was obsessed with. Which was quite alright with me: hey, I didn’t used to mess with other gals singers… besides, I had my own Mr. David Robert Jones!
So, I was looking for a music video (I’m almost ashamed of saying this amongst you long time NC&TBS fans… almost.) that actually belonged to Mr. Rick Ocasek, and I was doing it as stubbornly as only I can be… or so I thought.
I had, by force, to find this NC video that was not a NC video at all! But I had to find it nevertheless. So, I ended up stumbling on Henry Lee… yes…
Henry Lee is Beauty. On this I must agree with you.
It’s the beginning of something very special and, as in every beginning, it is filled with the passionate innocence of possibility… and with the unperceived potential for consequent (and expectable) disaster. I knew this because it actually reminded me of myself, once… it didn’t work out for me neither. And the sense of ultimate failure nearly killed me. I failed where I could never, ever have failed. And nothing would ever be the same again. Something was lost forever. And I knew that that something was Me…
Now, when you know you can never recover what is gone, dwelling constantly on the absence does you no good, ok? At this point, I stumble on this guy who, apparently, had not only survived, but prevailed! He became my model! Henry Lee was my 1st video. Mercy Seat (live in Marseille) natural and immediately followed. The 3rd was Grinderman’s Grinderman. That was that!
And, when I mean model, I refer to the fact that, if he can do it, I can do it too! If he deserves it, so do I. There is a chance for peace, for companionship and, yes, there is a chance for love…
So, he found it. He found love. And it was NOT PJ Harvey. It was that absolutely splendid woman of his, alright? Who stood by his side. Who gave him a family, stability, a life… (it’s impressive how everyone takes having something supposedly as simple as a life for granted), who is his sister, his mother, his daughter, his friend, his lover and his wife.
Therefore, allow me to, once more, contradict you, but I certainly hope he’s together with Susie. Always. Doesn’t he deserve it? Don’t we all deserve it? A second chance? He is no less than either of us. And, yes, he is human. Thank you for that! If he wasn’t, I would probably have nothing to do with the character whatsoever. What, are you all perfect, always judging his actions with microscope lenses in fear he slips slightly from your own ideals? Is he your prisoner? Are you super-human beings, you all? Maybe you are. Maybe you’re all angels. You know what, Morgan? You were right: angels are indeed terrible! I’m just so damned grateful I’m not one of those…

Let me cut in – I see that certain things need explanation. Performance art is this particular area in which the official image of an artist can be abstracted from reality. ‘Art as a way of life’ is practiced rarely and definitely not in case on Mr. Cave, what means: no personal remarks intended. It’s the stage hologram we are talking about, not real-life Nick Cave, whom I am sure everyone wishes the best. Honestly, have you ever noticed gossip or rumours spread here? I doubt.
Nick’s works, and image so strongly connected to them, function as an entirely separate sphere and this is the subject of readers’ interests. That’s why PJ Harvey-related comments are entirely free of any malicious intentions. As they say, Die Gedanken sind frei.

Speaking of personal remarks and quips, I’ll be really thankful if you abstained from them, too.
