The following clip of ‘Junkyard’ MUST BE SEEN. It contains unbelievably raw, rare footage. Thanks to MickHarv who writes: ‘Live at The Seaview Ballroom, February 1982. Chris Walsh is filling in on bass for the incarcerated Tracy Pew.’

The Birthday Party – Junkyard (Live 1982)

From “Pleasure Heads Must Burn” DVD, The Birthday Party line-up was as follows: Nick Cave (vocals) Mick Harvey (drums) Rowland S. Howard (guitar) and Tracy Pew (bass). In the first clip, Fears of Gun, note the pink mohawk dude ripping off Nick’s t-shirt (and Nick throwing punches at the roadies trying to pull him out of the pit).

HUGE thanks to nwilhelmy

Nick is t-shirtless in this next clip, same gig.

The Birthday Party – Hamlet (Pow!, Pow!, Pow!) (live)

Here’s The Birthday Party with Phill Calvert on drums, live at Hacienda 1982. Nick smacks a (?) floor tom (along with a few heads) with his drumstick. When a fan grabs it, Cave blurts: “You win, you got the stick!”

Thanks to the collectors at YouTube for their vigilance and hard work.
