The Biography of Nick Cave (Feb 19, 2008) is available for viewing or download from Google Videos. I watched this surprisingly intimate, lyrical portrait of Nick in the wee small hours of this morning. Featuring numerous performance clips and voice-over narration, the 47 minute documentary juxtaposes conventional sit-down interviews with ‘on location’ style footage. For example: Cave visits the Berlin flat where he lived while writing And The Ass Saw The Angel; the park bench where he and his ‘very pregnant’ wife Susie sat together (an idyllic setting that Cave says inspired “Sorrowful Wife”); and one of the numerous B&B’s in the English countryside where Nick often fled to escape the ‘temptations’ of London’s drug culture. Also included are insights and perspectives, offered by fellow Bad Seeds Mick Harvey and Blixa Bargeld, along with author Will Self, and director Wim Wenders. Excellent program!
Have a great day, Nick Fiends!
