  1. Haha, oh, shirt. . .didn’t he adapt that from a dress? I remember reading somewhere he just stole (presumably Anita’s but I’m not the goddamn professor of Nick Cave’s love life) a girlfriend’s dress and reappropriated it. I suppose it takes a certain degree of weirdness to date Nick Cave at that time, so maybe it wouldn’t be such a “what. . .the. . .fuck?” thing to her. But I remember reading about that in some random place pretty early on, and it cemented that era Cave into my heart as a delightful weirdo.

    • Hehe. That might be. In an interview i read in a Norwegian magazine a couple of weeks ago, he said that he used to wear girls clothing as a teenager, because a girlfriend he had then liked it. He also said that his father put an end to that by saying: “Nick, you’re a man now. It’s time to take off these high heels”.

      • Hah, the high heels comment is great. Yep, Anita used to make shirts for Nick actually, and I believe she sewed some of them from her dresses. They looked great. Looks like he wore plenty of ladies’ blouses as well. Not everyone can pull it off, but he certainly did!
Re: the girl who made him wear dresses when he was a teenager – I think she’s the same one who caused Nick to dye his hair, right? She had black hair and after she dumped him Nick said he started dying his hair black to be more like her. Something cute like that anyway 😀
I’ve read WAAAY to many interviews, apparently.
