Random Sick Bag Song news/interviews/reviews

The Sick Bag Song reading in Los Angeles will take place in 2 days and there are still tickets available on Ticketmaster if you are interested.

In the meantime the official website has released the second teaser video: Portand. Absolutely brilliant and I can’t wait to see the remaining three.

As far as interviews, Vice met Nick Cave on a place to discuss the book. Watch it here. There is also an interesting audio interview with BBC Front Row with a couple more clips from the upcoming audiobook.

Creative Review also analyzes the concept of the book more in-depth and the general look of it. Don’t click if you want to stay spoiler free!

Finally The Daily Mail interviewed Nick. Click on each picture to read the articles, or download it (file to unzip). Thank you to Sylwia for the screencaptures.

Folks, this compilation is a wonder and a  delight. With its high-quality instrumentation, this album ain’t just for babies.  Immediate favorites: “Straight to You”, “(Are You) The One That I’ve Been Waiting For”, and the ethereal “Push The Sky Away”.  The most surprising inclusion is the gently sonorous, “Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!”.  Wonderful stuff.  Appropriate for listening at work, on your way to class, while meditating, preparing dinner, to clear your mind after an über krap day, or any time you want to bring a little sunshine into your head. When I go to bed tonight, my ear buds will be twinkling with Lullaby Versions of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.

La Monnaie presents: Shell Shock (libretto by Nick Cave)

Royal Opera House – La Monnaie, Brussels

In the 2014-2015 season La Monnaie will be presenting three very differing projects: Shell Shock, Medúlla and Creation 2015. Nick Cave wrote the libretto for the opera creation Shell Shock, Björk lent us her music for Medúlla, the first intergenerational project in La Monnaie, and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker is making her new dance performance Creation 2015 to music from Brian Eno. These performances unite music, performance and beauty of the highest level.

Shell Shock is a war story in which soldiers, mothers, prisoners and lost souls take the leading roles. With ‘choreographer of the year’ Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui directing, this performance is guaranteed to be a high point in the planned commemorations for the Great War.

NOTE: Early Birds: best seats will be on sale from Saturday 12 April to Saturday 26 April.

ARIA Awards – OOR

The end of the year often signifies the time to reflect on the best albums of the year, and Push the Sky Away has certainly made on impact on the music industry.

On December 1st, the ARIA Awards took place and Push the Sky Away won “best adult contemporary album” as well as “best independent release”. We know Cave’s position on awards ceremonies but he has recently declared: “”…, Push The Sky Away in my view is the best record of our career and at the moment the Bad Seeds live are on fire. So in this instance, any awards that may come away are justified. And greatly appreciated.” Source.

Dutch magazine OOR has released a special Christmas edition featuring the best albums of 2013 and Push the Sky Away has made the list… at #1!

Valerie’s Koko Review

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds @Koko

By Guest contributor Valerie

Edit: MP3 & MP4 of Where the Wild Roses Grow with Kylie Minogue in the comment section.

As requested here is my “review” (sounds more like being hyper enthusiastic lol).

Well this past week has been quite special to say the least! I decided to celebrate my birthday in London with three Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds concerts. One for every decade I guess! If the Apollo Hammersmith ones were well-planned (mini review and a few pictures on my blog) I had no idea I would win the Koko Camden ballot (I did enter with 4 or 5 emails! lol) I bought two tickets to share with Ann, a fantastic fan, and friend now from Belgium as well, and booked yet another weekend in London. Nick, you are a lovely, but an expensive passion (but so worth it).
